This has been a great first bowling ball for me. It doesn't have a lot of hook, which is very good for a beginner or if you need something to roll straight to pick up that spare. Just having my own ball, holes drilled to fit to my hand, immediately bumped my average game up by 20 pins. Next year, I'll probably get a higher-end ball, but Pearl will always be my first.
